The grey comes from mixing a bit of black with the white paint.
Paint over the glued lettering as well.
Wipe away the excess paint with a cloth and let them dry.
Using the metallic gold paint, brush over the glued words on the spines and let dry.
Last but not least, use a piece of twine to tie the stacked books together.
We hot glued a spider for more effect.
