Costumes are a great way to pretend and explore.
Use them as a conversation starter for topics like occupations.
Ask kids What do you want to be when you grow up?
and talk about their ideas.
Can you think of some ways to make costumes for their chosen job?

Afterwards, discuss which characters have occupations.
How do you become an astronaut or a soccer player?
How about a ballerina?
Can you go to school to learn to be a mummy or a vampire?
What other jobs can you think of?
Have each child choose an occupation and make up a gesture.
Then, have students stand up and demonstrate their gesture while the other kids guess what it is.
After you have guessed all of them, play the Sing-along version of Knock Knock, Trick Or Treat?
