What are Wooden Crates and Where Do you Buy Them?
A wooden crate is a medium/large container used to ship goods.
It is usually made out of wood and it usually transports big and heavy items.
Many people have these leftovers from their shipments and up-cycle them.
Another option is to buy them.
They are usually fairly inexpensive.
Check out some big box stores like Home Depot, Lowes.
I bought mine from Home Depot, theseare the ones I bought.
you’ve got the option to also check online on Amazon, likethese ones.
Before you stain your wooden crates you should lightly sand the top to verify the wood is smooth.
To stain your crates use your stain of choice.
For smooth utility use a brush or an old rag you’ve got the option to throw out.
Paint your stain on, then take a rag or lint-free paper towel and wipe off the excess.
Let the stain dry.
Dry time depends on the brand of stain you use.
Read the instructions on your stain can to find out.
Another alternative is to use anoutdoor latex paintinstead of the stain.
If youre looking to add a pop of color, this method would work beautifully.
I used paint instead of stain when making my kids theirDIY lemonade standand it looked great!
Arrange your crates so that the opening of the crates faces outwards.
Essentially, the bottoms of the crates will be back-to-back.
This will create a rectangular shape and also give you shelves for storage.
Use 1 x 4 pieces of lumber, measure and cut the wood using a saw.
Use a nail gun to nail the crates into the base.
You will need to flip over the crates to do this step.
Once your frame is all nailed to the crates you’re able to screw in the wheels!
I used2 castor wheels and found they were aperfect size.
We used 5 of them.
