If you have to use inkjet, print out the copies.
Then spray both sides with either clear acrylic sealer or hairspray.
Let dry for 24 hours before doing the project (so the ink doesnt bleed!).
This craft is perfect for little kids because Mod Podge is fairly forgiving and dries clear at the end.
Note that my preschooler did this part all by himself.
So you dont have to worry making things perfect!
