I am always eager to find new flower crafts.

Whenever possible, I venture to use items that I already have on hand for my craft projects.

Thats one of the reasons why I adore this coffee filter project so much.

You only need a few basic items to create your own vibrant flowers, including coffee filters.

These would look great arranged in a vase or attached to a card or present.

You could even make several and use them for party centerpieces.

I love to play with different colors when I make crafts like this.

This project is creative and fun.

Flatten them out and fold them in half.

Step 2.Fold it in half again.

Step 3.Fold the filters in half one more time.

You should now have a small triangular shape.

Step 4.Hold your triangular coffee filter stack together.

Cut in a curved fashion around the top of your triangle to make the petals.

Step 5.When you unfold your triangle, you should have four flower shapes.

Separate them into two stacks, placing two coffee filter flowers in each stack.

Step 6.This is where you get to have some fun and get creative!

Grab your washable markers and start decorating.

Step 8.Cover both stacks of flowers with water.

The filters should be wet enough to make the colors blend.

Now, you will need to be patient and wait for your flowers to dry.

If you use the air-dry method, this will take about 2-3 hours.

If you place them in direct sunlight, you will only need to wait about 30 minutes.

You could even put them in the oven at 130 F for 20 minutes.

Step 9.Check on your flowers to see if they have dried.

Step 10.Once they are dry, you will notice that the flower colors are beautifully blended.

Step 11.Take one stack of flowers.

Place a finger in the center so that you are holding both filters together.

Step 12.Using your other hand, begin twisting the top layer upward to make a bundle.

Start to gently pinch and twist the bottom of the bundle.

Step 13.When you are done, you should have a pointed end at the bottom of your flower bundle.

Step 14.Do the same thing with the other stack.

Step 15.Hold the two bundles together by the pointed bottoms.

Step 16.Flip your flower bundle upside down so that you are holding it with the pointed bottom side up.

Step 18.It is important to ensure a tight fit so that the flowers dont fall apart.

Shape the flower by separating each layer to get that full flowery look.

How Long Do These Flowers Take to Make?

This project does not require a ton of active crafting time.

The most time-consuming part of these flowers is waiting for the coffee filters to dry.

Arranging and decorating the flowers and then wrapping the pipe cleaner will only take you 10-20 minutes or so.

But you have to factor in drying time.

If you let them air dry, it will take 2-3 hours.

You could also put them in the oven at 130 F. This will take about 20 minutes.

In all, this project could take you anywhere from 35 minutes to 3.5 hours.

Keep in mind that much of this time is drying time.
