Fresh vs.
I love eating fresh broccoli because of the nutrients, but that isnt always possible.
If you could, make a run at find flash frozen broccoli.
That means its frozen soon after its picked, which means more of the nutrients remain.
I place those in freezer safe containers, and then take them out and defrost when I need them.
Can you put uncooked chicken in a casserole?
So technically you could chop it up and put it in raw.
However, Im kind of weirded out by raw chicken and veggies touching, etc.
Plus youd have to cook it longer .
so just cook the chicken first.
Do you have to cook broccoli before putting it in a casserole?
You dont have to but I recommend that you do.
If you cook raw broccoli in the oven, you may notice that it turns brown-ish.
This is because the cell walls break down and the chlorophyll escapes.
I guess it doesnt matter if you dont care about presentation.
This is why I use frozen broccoli.
Its already cooked or at least blanched (boiled and then flash frozen).
It cooks right along with all the other ingredients and it doesnt turn brown and look unappealing to eat.
