So, we went through our driftwood collection and found this little piece. Does is look like a bird to you? We thought so- it even seems to have an eye in the right place! The only thing missing was a beak. Black acrylic paint was used to add an eye and wings. you could see the whole transformation in this short video. We affixed the ends to the back of the bird with hot glue....
The holidays are a perfect time to craft! I read somewhere recently that Christmas trends on Pinterest for 6 months out of the year. So…maybe its not too soon to start thinking about it after all?? This project would also look beautiful using smaller branches cut to varying lengths. We also created afull sized driftwood Christmas tree(yes, thats right, FULL SIZED!) that our mom keeps in her garden all year long....
Still, I wasnt too happy to come face-to-face with this guy a few weeks ago at the cottage. This summer the spiders had gotten so big that they started asking when dinner was coming. In any case, all this talk of spiders got us thinking of Halloween. We originally planned to make all spiders, some black, some orange and the rest green. But once they were painted the orange egg cups made me think of pumpkins and the green ones Frankenstein....

Ive always loved the look of these long green grasses with their chunky brown knobs. With the four of them looking on I crept as close to the edge as I dared. Without a knife or scissors on hand I managed to wrestle out a stalk. Then, of course, each of the kids wanted one. But what would we stick them in to keep them standing up? That was until we found this beautiful piece of white-washed driftwood on the beach....
